I find myself
Inside a large crowd
I've never felt so tired and lonely
But here I am
I sure hope no one sees me
I don't think I could
Connect with another person
Ever again.
There's a darkness in my head
It's heavier than lead
But still I carry it
No matter what they say
I give a smile
So they know I'm ok
Then I'll say goodbye
And I'll be on my way
I find myself
In a large cathedral
Staring at the crucifix
And all your saints
I still don't understand
How you believe
In all of these old myths and falsities
It's rather strange
You say "Confess your sins."
"Just let the savior in."
I really can't concede
To all those evil priests
I'll take my lack of faith
And drag it along
Into the night
That's where I belong
They tell me everyone goes through these times
Then why has it been my whole life
I'll try this last ditch effort of medicine
The doctor says "It'll all be ok"
"If you take this pill you'll smile again."
But is that really happiness in the end?
You smile at me
From across the room
I cringe and act like I don't see you
But you know I did
Then you walk over
Say "Hi,how are you?"
"I'm alright. Let's go somewhere and talk for a little while."
But I can't look in your eyes
They remind me I'm still alive
But still take me to your bed
Let's share in pleasure's sin
Then I'll fall in love with you
Just for a second.
Then I'll fall back into loathing with myself.
